I will be posting reviews of the albums I listen to. You can expect to see some prog metal, electronic music, neo-psychedelic tunes, and some ethereal synthpop. You can find some Turkish music gems here as well!

Aphelion - Leprous
2/3/2022
This is Leprous' latest album which came out in 2021. I must say that I think Leprous is pulling the ropes for progressive metal at the moment. I love this band because when they first came out (Tall Poppy Syndrome and Coal albums), their sound resembled Opeth (I am not complaining). When we look at this album and Pitfalls (their 2019 album) we can see their shift. They have created a brand new sound for them by incorporating shamanic, more ethereal sounds into progressive metal. This enhances Einar Solberg's vocals (which is beyond my understanding). Meanwhile, I am amazed by the band's technically beautiful metal music as well as the minimally but appropriately used electronic music, AND the use of string instruments. I love how the lyrics are simple but have conceptually beautiful meanings to them. Aphelion is a very cohesive album, but each piece has a weight to it.
You are a strong-willed fairy flying in the dark.
Nighttime Disguise, Have You Ever?, Running Low, Silhoutte
8/10,"no filler, all killer!", as my dad says.

Butterfly 3000 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard
2/3/2022
KGLW released this album in 2021. Like their previous few albums, each piece's outro is linked to the next piece's intro and this makes this album a huge psychedelic jam! KGLW's sound always makes me so happy, because their use of microtonal music and the sounds they go for create an unfamiliar complexity to my ears. Actually, I am not totally unfamiliar with microtonal music as I'm Turkish, that could be another reason why It makes my ears so happy. The fact that I cannot predict the next note while the songs are playing is an excitement you should try If you think your ears are too used to western tonal music. Apart from microtonality, they went for a lively set of electronic sounds in this album. This choice could fool those of you who only listen to the main melody with the highest frequency, as It would appear too simple and boring. However, I find the composition of the songs very smart. It is also awesome that they manage to create such songs with a palette that falls on the more high-frequency side because the sounds could overlap and It could easily go wrong. They have much better albums for sure, however, I am reviewing this as a psychedelic jam party in a forest, where 3000 butterflies are flying around cohesively. The album lifts me and makes my brain feel amazing!
You are a butterfly and you find yourself in a psychedelic jam party right after your metamorphosis!
Shanghai, Dreams, Blue Morpho
7/10, not their best but the music makes you happy. WOO!!!
